Ren'Py 8.4.1 web build

The Unbroken

The Unbroken runs on this page at Part 6. Five tags. Six parts of content and the tag list never grew past five, which in this catalogue is the narrowest there is and on a project this far along it means something quite specific.

Plays on this page. We host the build, so there is nothing to install and nowhere to go. Checked on 2026-08-17.

Six parts and the scope never moved

On an early build a short tag list means the content has not arrived. On a sixth instalment it cannot mean that, because six releases have gone by and the list is still five.

So this is a project that decided what it was and refused to broaden. Every release went into going deeper rather than wider.

That is rare here, and it usually reads as a single strong through line rather than a set of routes. If you have bounced off games that offer forty directions and resolve none of them, this is the opposite shape.

Parts rather than versions

A part count tells you how much exists and makes no claim about how much is planned. Six parts are here. Nothing in the label promises a seventh, and we are not going to invent a total.

That is more honest than a 0.6, which implies an ending at 1.0 that may never arrive.

What it costs to start

A measured 66 MB, of which around 33 MB is the shared engine, leaving roughly 33 MB of game across six parts.

Efficient for that much content, which fits everything above: fewer routes, less to render.

Nothing loads until you press the button, and the engine is declared and current so it behaves properly on a phone.

Narrow projects and the second playthrough

A wide game invites replaying to see the other branches. A narrow one usually does not, and that is worth knowing before you decide what to start.

What you get instead is a story that is likely to land, because the writing was not spread across a dozen routes that each got a fraction of the attention.

Export a save between parts anyway. They arrive months apart, which is exactly the interval over which browser storage tends to disappear.

The Unbroken, answered

Why only five tags after six parts?

Because the scope never widened. Six releases went into depth rather than breadth, which is unusual here and usually reads as a stronger single storyline.

How many parts will there be?

Unknown. A part count says what exists, not what is planned, and we are not going to guess at a total.

How much does it load?

A measured 66 MB, of which around 33 MB is the shared engine, leaving roughly 33 MB of game.

Is it worth replaying?

Less than a wide game would be. Narrow scope means fewer branches to go back for, and a stronger single line instead.
